It's all about options.

When it comes to finding new ways to reduce our home and business energy bills, no one wants limits. We want the freedom to choose options that reflect our lifestyles and work schedules. Most importantly, we want the options we've chosen to work for us, making a difference that can actually be seen every month.

With the introduction of the iCanConserve energy conservation pilot project, the people in participating communities now have those choices — choices that can actually help them achieve their energy-savings goals.

iCanConserve gives each of us more choices.

iCanConserve is a pilot project from Wisconsin Public Service, Focus on Energy and the Citizens Utility Board. Consisting of special electric rate options, a wide range of conservation programs, energy-saving tools and tips, iCanConserve will help us learn:

  • Which resources helped participants achieve their savings goals.
  • How those discoveries can best be brought to an even larger audience.
  • What kinds of information and communications proved most helpful.

The project originally kicked off in Brillion, Wisconsin in 2009, and became available to residents and businesses within the village of Allouez in September 2010. iCanConserve officially came to Plover in May, 2011.

What's the thinking behind iCanConserve?

WPS will do whatever is necessary to keep meeting the needs of residential and business customers for ample, affordable electricity. Proactively helping people use less energy remains one of the most effective ways to achieve that goal, and iCanConserve will help. iCanConserve is truly about seeking local solutions to a local challenge, so we can be certain they'll work.

How Were Participating Communities Chosen?

Allouez, Brillion and Plover were chosen as test communities based on very specific criteria, including population, mixture of homes and businesses, demographic diversity, the number of business associations and social organizations, ample parks and recreation, and other factors.

Other communities in the WPS service area can still take advantage of general WPS rates and special offers. WPS has allocated additional funds to Focus on Energy to provide its customers with exclusive enhanced incentives to help customers complete energy-efficiency and renewable energy projects.
