Get a free digital timer when you enroll in Three-Tier Time-of-Use by April 30, 2012! Learn about the rate by downloading the PDF and watching the short video, then Get Started today.

With Three-Tier Time-of-Use, changing the time of day you use energy adds up to savings, and for a limited time we'll give you a free digital timer to make it even easier.

Three-Tier Time-of-Use helps you save money when you can shift the greatest share of your electricity use to the Off-Peak savings hours — times of the day and night when energy demand and rates are lower.

Those hours are in effect about half of the time, so even small changes result in savings. Use your free timer to turn off appliances, electronics and lamps during On-Peak hours. Then make other easy changes, like doing a load of laundry at night or setting your air conditioner to a higher temperature while you're sleeping.

When you can't completely shift to Off-Peak hours, using energy during Mid-Peak hours is the next best savings option.

If you have the flexibility to control when you use energy in your home, the Response Rewards electric rate may be a smart move for you.

The objective of Response Rewards is to help you avoid the more expensive electric rates — those that result from times of highest demand known as "On-Peak" and "Critical-Peak Periods."

When it's clear that demand for electricity is extra high and will start impacting prices, you'll be contacted by your choice of pager, text message, e-mail or fax at least one hour in advance. That gives you plenty of time to temporarily shut down or stop using high-use electrical items, such as your air conditioner, dehumidifier, clothes dryer, dishwasher, etc., in your home. When the Critical-Peak Period is ending, you'll be notified in the same way at least 30 minutes in advance, allowing you to resume electricity use if you choose.

Critical-Peak Periods typically last between 2 and 8 hours and account for less than 3% of all annual hours. And Off-Peak savings hours, times you pay less than the Standard Rate, are available to you every day of the week.

A Smart Thermostat is now available for free to Response Rewards customers; it automatically does your A/C cooling adjustments for you, so you don't have to, making it even easier to save.

Cool Rewards can be an easy way to earn bill credits on your monthly energy bill.

With Cool Rewards, you have a chance to earn credits on your Wisconsin Public Service bills for allowing your air conditioning and/or your electric water heater to be occasionally shut down for short periods. You'll earn credits from June through September for your air conditioning, and all year 'round for your water heater.

A small, remote-controlled switch is installed free of charge on your central air conditioner, or electric water heater, or both. If a power crunch occurs, your air conditioner and/or water heater will be automatically shut off or cycled on and off, without interfering with the rest of your electrical appliances.

Turn-offs or cycles most often occur in June through September, generally in the afternoons and early evenings. They may last only an hour, but never more than 8 hours in a day, and usually only happen 8 or 10 days in the year.

Standard Rate is the basic, residential customer electric rate most Wisconsin Public Service customers receive.

No matter the amount or time of day electricity is used, the per-kilowatt hour (kWh) remains the same.

While iCanConserve participants are certainly welcome to continue with the Standard Rate, you may want to consider a rate that gives you the chance to lower your energy bill simply by enrolling in a special iCanConserve Rewards rate and changing a few habits.
